1.科目のねらい・目標
This is a language course which aims to build upon the skills and fluency acquired during the first three semesters. There will be emphasis on English for health and welfare studies and on presentation skills. Students will be encouraged to become independent learners, able to motivate and organize their own learning.
2.授業計画・内容・方法・準備学習等
This course will be taught in English, and the use of Japanese will be discouraged.
1 Introductions, course goals, explanation of the presentation
2 ~ 5 Health & Welfare (Issues in Japan), Introduction to report writing
6 ~ 9 Health & Welfare (Issues overseas), Report writing skills
10 ~ 13 Presentation skills, introduction to PowerPoint
14 - 15 Speaking test – individual presentations on a health or welfare topic
N.B. Individual teachers may change the order of topics to meet the needs of students and classes.

No set text will be used, but students will be issued will a course outline and course content will be the same for all groups.

Speaking (50%) and writing (50%) will be assessed at the end of the course.

Feedback from students has generally been positive, and this has encouraged us to continue emphasizing oral communication skills.
