1.科目のねらい・目標
This is a language course which shares the same aims as English A and B, but is intended to build upon the skills and fluency acquired during those courses. More demanding tasks will be set and students will have greater freedom to use their English in situations which they create for themselves.
2.授業計画・内容・方法・準備学習等
The course will be taught entirely in English, and the use of Japanese in the classroom will be strongly discouraged.
Students will spend most of their time communicating in spoken English, often in pairs or in small groups. Pronunciation, fluency and clarity will be monitored, and appropriate help will be given to individuals. The atmosphere will be relaxed, and games, role play and other activities will be used to encourage progress through enjoyment.
As well as speaking, there will be practice in listening, reading and writing.
Most lessons will take place in a classroom, but some time will be spent in the LT listening room and the LT computer room.

2 ~ 4 Food and drink I (vocabulary for food, quantities, describing Japanese food, suggest, invite, request, accept, refuse)
5 ~ 7 Food and drink II (describing food from other countries, restaurant role play, ordering food over the telephone)
8 ~ 9 Shopping I (types of clothing, numbers & money, shopping habits and preferences)
10 ~ 11 Shopping II (shopping role play, cultural differences in shopping)
12 Review and consolidation
13 ~ 15 Education I (subjects, school life – past & present)
16 ~ 18 Education II (education in other countries)
19 ~ 21 Media I (types of media, talking about favourite media)
22 ~ 24 Media II (movie review, recommending movies, the news)
25 ~ 26 Review and consolidation
27 ~ 28 Course overview, speaking test
There will also be practice of future tenses, conditionals and negative questions throughout the course; however, the main emphasis will be on making active use of English as a means of communication.
N.B. Individual teachers may change the order of topics to meet the needs of students and classes.

No set textbook will be used, but students will be issued with a course outline, and course content will be the same for all groups.

Speaking (60%), reading & listening (20%) and writing (20%) will be assessed during the course.

Feedback from students has generally been positive, and this has encouraged us to continue emphasizing oral communication skills.
